Take a look at this great old footage about the wonderful streetcars we used to have here in Grand Rapids. Is it any wonder that they are looking at putting some of these back in downtown? Why are they not running the line alone Ionia Avenue though? Basically Monroe only? I think the next best thing you can do is extend it as soon as possible to Robert Israel's business complex and over to the Van Andel Institute. From there we should connect to a faster, more direct shuttle or trams that go west to John Ball Park Zoo and then Millenium Park where they should ressurect the Grand Rapids Grand Prix and hold 3 racing / concet weekends per year in Millenium Park with crowds of 20,000 to 100,000. Grand Prix Racing and a stop on Formula 1, or Cart's circuit could bring 300-500,000 visitors from all over the nation, and in fact the globe, from Europe and Asia, spending their money at the Grand Prix, downtown and all shopping and food / entertainment points in between.
